TinyPilot Voyager 1 installation instructions

First make sure, that you got everything, and nothing is hiding in the box.

and in addition a USB power connector and a sticker with the TinyPilot logo.

First, please make sure, that the microSD card is in the TinyPilot. Make sure it is not missing or off center.

Putting together the components

Please take the three cables and the TinyPilot power connector and connect them as shown below:

Take the red cable for the PWR (power) and the grey cable for the data. The grey data cable will be plugged into the computer you wanted to use with the TinyPilot. The black cable will be plugged into the TinyPilot later. Please make sure, that the cables mechanically fit. The Micro USB plugs from the grey and red cable are flat at one side. Make sure you put it correctly into the TinyPilot power connector. All cables fit firmly.

Now you can start connecting the TinyPilot with the remote machine.

Plug the HDMI cable (not included) into the TinyPilot and use a network cable (not included) for the network connection. Then, connect the black short cable which is connected with the TinyPilot power connector with the TinyPilot USB-C cable. The result should look like the following below:

Now you can connect the other end of the grey USB cable with an USB port of the remote machine. This cable is used to simulate mouse an keyboard on the remote machine. Connect the HDMI cable with the remote machine. You probably need to get a HDMI2VGA or HDMI2DIVx connector to make it fit. Attention! Please put the grey USB cable directly into the external computer. Do not use it with a combined adapter that can be used as a "docking station". Sometimes this docking station is set to sleep more, and in the case that TinyPilot is not connected directly with the grey cable to the remote machine, you cannot wakeup the remote machine.

Before you plug in the TinyPilot with the red cable to the USB power, make sure, that the TinyPilot power connector is turned off (switch is close to PWR/DATA), like shown on the right:

Now you can plug in the red cable into the USB power connector. Please only use the delivered USB power connector, as TinyPilot uses about 18W, which not all USB power plug might be able to deliver. TinyPilot might boot, but certainly will not work properly. Also make sure the USB power does not heat up. If connected, you can turn on the TinyPilot power connector.

If you put your ear close to the TinyPilot, you should be able to hear the fan quietly spinning, the LED next to the network cable should also start blinking and flashing to show that they get network traffic.
